Q:I am an interventional pain management physician and I am afraid that I will anger my referring Orthopedic surgeons and lose my referrals from them if I do this program.
A:That will not be the case; in fact the exact opposite will occur. As you market your program to your patients and the public you will find many patients to refer to them. In fact many of the practices with the IAJ program have successfully co marketed events with Orthopedic surgeons.
Q: I have never used a fluoroscope... Will there be training?
A:Yes you will be trained on the mechanical use of the fluoroscope by the technicians who set up your machine and you will proctor with a physician who has done hundreds if not thousands of fluoroscopic procedures to ensure your proficiency.
Q:Do I have to make any special modifications to have a fluoroscope in my facility?
A:Each state is different. You will have to call your states department of nuclear safety and they will let you know if you need lead shielding and if so where.
Q:What diagnosis do I need in order to insure payment?
A: We will provide you with all of the specific ICD-9 codes to develop the medical necessity to perform the viscosupplementation injections.
Q:I am a primary care physician and I really don't know how to bill for physical therapy or fluoroscopy codes. Will your program help me with the billing?
A: Yes. A full chapter of our IAJP program is dedicated to billing. Each day of the protocol has its own page describing procedures and codes for that day's service with an attached sample HCFA. You will also have access through us to a billing department that has billed thousands of these procedures for this program.
Q: Will this program work for severely degenerated knees?
A:Yes. The pain relief and functional benefits in this population is consistently demonstrated in our national data base.
Q:Can you use this program for any other joints?
A:Not as of yet but Sanofi Aventis the maker of Hyalgan is close to getting their drug approved for shoulder injections.
Q:How long will it take me to get my program up and running profitably?
A:As soon as you go through the training and receive your equipment you will be ready to start. You will spend two days in training initially and at that training you will receive a very thorough manual explaining the program step by step. You will also receive contact information for the people that trained you for any questions or discussion.
Q:How do I market my program?
A:One full chapter of the IAJP manual is dedicated to marketing. We start with the most simplistic approaches and expand into the more advanced marketing programs.
Q: I am an internal medicine doctor and I would love to ad this program to my practice but I don't think I have enough space for the physical therapy. How much space do I need?
A:Of course it would be nice to have a large physical therapy room but we have successfully implemented these programs in as little as 200 square feet.
Q: What happens to the patient after they are released?
A:Medicare's policy states that if a patient receives positive results from the first injection series and develops some level of pain after six months he or she has established the medical necessity to have a subsequent injection series. RMG keeps detailed records on our website and can provide you with all of the information needed to document the progress.
Q: Will I be certified after attending you training?
A:Yes. When you have successfully completed the training, you will receive a certificate showing that you have completed the advanced course.
